SUREvAI Verify

Can a ChatGPT image still be detected after saving?

Often there are clues, but the answer depends on the file you have. Use the original image if available; then compare the result with any creation history you can independently verify.

Original files can carry stronger clues

Some generated files include signed Content Credentials or ordinary metadata. Signed records, when present and valid, provide a stronger origin signal than appearance alone. Metadata can be removed or changed.

Compression can remove history

A website, messenger, screenshot, or compression tool may produce a new file with less origin information. SUREvAI still checks the pixels, but a clean-looking image can be difficult to distinguish from a real photograph.

If the result is Not Sure, it does not mean the image is real. Try the original download if you have it.

What to do with a surprising result

Check the original prompt and export if you created the image yourself. For a viral image, seek an independent source, publication history, or a verified creation record before sharing a definitive claim.
